AI training jobs with no experience: what's real and what pays
Updated · By the AI Training Pay team · How we research
Most AI training money goes to experts. But 71% of the 1,094 roles we track list no degree or license, and a handful of fields regularly hire people based on a skill test alone. Here's what's open, what it pays today, and how to tell it from the scams that target exactly this search.
Fields that hire without a credential
| Field | Live roles | Median | What you need |
|---|---|---|---|
| Generalist | 44 | $73 | Careful reading, good judgment, clear English |
| Writing & editing | 10 | $80 | A portfolio or a strong writing sample |
| Languages & translation | 52 | $31 | Native fluency in the language |
| Voice & audio | 174 | $26 | A quiet room and a decent microphone |

Platforms that take beginners
- Prolific: the easiest door. Short studies and AI tasks with an enforced $8/hr minimum. Good for spare time, not rent.
- Outlier: generalist and language projects after onboarding tests. Its blog puts project pay at $10 to $50 an hour.
- DataAnnotation: general track starts at $25 to $50 an hour per its FAQ, after a written starter assessment.
- Alignerr: many voice, transcription and language listings with a per-listing assessment.
- Handshake AI: generalist work for students and recent grads.
"No experience" doesn't mean "no test"
Entry-level roles skip the degree, not the screen. You'll be graded on following detailed instructions, spotting factual errors and explaining your judgment. How the assessments work. A native language is the strongest card most people don't realize they hold: browse roles by language.
How to spot the scams aimed at this search
"Remote AI job, no experience" is the exact phrase task scams advertise with. The tells are consistent: pay that doesn't fit the work, a recruiter on WhatsApp or Telegram, "tasks" like boosting products or rating hotels, and eventually a request to deposit money or pay in crypto to unlock earnings. Real platforms never charge you anything. Paste a message into the scam check.
A realistic path up
Start with generalist or language work, build a quality record, and watch for projects in any subject you know well. Teachers, nurses, accountants, paralegals and developers often qualify for expert-tier roles without a PhD. The matcher shows what your background unlocks.
Questions people ask
Can you do AI training with no experience?
Yes, in a few areas. Generalist evaluation, writing, voice recording and native-language work often list no degree. 71% of live roles list no formal credential, though most still test a real skill before paying you.
What's the easiest AI training job to get?
Prolific is the easiest to join: sign up, verify, and take studies as they appear, at a minimum of $8 an hour. Voice recording projects are the next easiest, but they pay the least of the listed work.
Do entry-level AI training jobs pay well?
Less than expert work. Today's median for voice & audio roles is $26 an hour, against $78 for medicine.
Is '$300 a day, no experience needed' real?
No. High pay for no skills is the most common lure in task scams. Real entry-level AI work pays modestly and never asks you to pay, deposit or buy anything.
