The work

You will create realistic civil and structural engineering problems and review technical work produced by AI systems. Your evaluations will focus on whether the work is accurate, practical, aligned with industry standards, and suitable for real engineering and construction workflows.

You will write clear, structured feedback that explains technical issues and helps improve how AI systems handle engineering problems and deliverables.

  • Create expert-level scenarios based on design, modeling, estimating, construction, and project workflows.
  • Review calculations, assumptions, models, quantities, estimates, and design recommendations.
  • Assess structural design, code compliance, fabrication-accurate modeling, quantity takeoffs, estimating, and applied engineering analysis.
  • Evaluate the practical feasibility and real-world applicability of AI-generated technical responses.

What it pays and takes

This is ongoing, project-based contract work that can be completed alongside a current role. The work is remote and asynchronous, with a self-directed schedule. The listing indicates 20 or more hours per week and also describes the role as having no minimum time requirement.

The role is marked as entry level, but it requires recent professional civil or structural engineering experience and ownership of real technical deliverables.

  • Pay: Up to $90 per hour.
  • Work type: Part-time contractor work.
  • Location: You must be based in the United States.
  • Language: English.
  • Education: A BS, MS, or PhD in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: Current or recent professional experience as a civil or structural engineer, within the past three years.
  • Technical background: Experience with models, calculations, quantities, estimates, construction documents, or other deliverables used to build, price, review, or approve work.
  • Strengths: Clear written communication, careful attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex engineering ideas.
  • Relevant specialties: Code-based structural design, fabrication-accurate modeling, quantity takeoff, estimating, applied simulation, construction documentation, or building and infrastructure design.
  • Helpful experience: PE licensure or EIT certification, building codes and structural standards, BIM, quantity surveying, cost modeling, detailing, or multidisciplinary coordination.
  • Relevant tools may include AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Tekla Structures, SAP2000, ETABS, STAAD.Pro, RAM Structural System, or RISA.
