The work

You will help train AI systems to reason through realistic legal problems. You will turn practice scenarios and supporting materials into challenging, gradable tasks, then explain the correct legal analysis and the authority behind it.

You will also set clear standards for judging answers, review work created by other attorneys, and identify tasks that are ambiguous or cannot be graded reliably.

  • Build complex legal reasoning tasks from realistic legal practice scenarios.
  • Write defensible legal analyses that explain how the conclusion follows from the facts and relevant authority.
  • Create objective criteria so another attorney can assess an answer consistently.
  • Review other attorneys' tasks for legal accuracy and sound reasoning.
  • Flag tasks that are unclear or cannot be graded reliably.

What it pays and takes

This is flexible, project-based contractor work designed to fit around an existing legal practice. The role is remote and part time for attorneys with a U.S. license.

  • Pay: $80 to $150 per hour equivalent, paid per task that meets the project specifications.
  • Location: Open to candidates in the countries listed for this role, including the United States.
  • License: J.D. and an active U.S. bar license in good standing.
  • Experience: Three to fifteen years of active practice in litigation, corporate, real estate, bankruptcy, compliance, or another relevant legal area.
  • Skills: Strong legal research, issue spotting, fact-pattern analysis, written reasoning, and the ability to separate defensible conclusions from unsupported or ambiguous answers.
  • Language: English proficiency at C1 level or above.
  • Helpful background: Judicial clerkship, law school teaching or legal instruction, law review or journal editorial work, legal AI or legal data project experience, and seasoned litigation experience. Prior AI experience is not required.
