The Work
You will evaluate AI systems on complex mechanical design problems. The work focuses on multi-part CAD assemblies, design intent, constraints, mechanisms, and the reasoning behind engineering decisions.
- Analyze multi-part mechanical assemblies to identify design intent, constraints, critical decisions, and possible failure points.
- Create challenging technical questions based on CAD models and validate defensible answers directly from those models.
- Review AI-generated mechanical reasoning and identify inaccurate, incomplete, ambiguous, or unsupported answers.
- Recommend targeted improvements, refine questions that cannot be answered clearly, and document edge cases, disagreements, reasoning, and traceability.
What It Pays and Takes
- Pay: $40 to $90 per hour.
- Schedule: Approximately 15 hours per week, part time.
- Work setting: Remote contractor role.
- CAD expertise: At least five years creating and overseeing multi-part mechanical assemblies from concept, plus mastery of at least one major parametric CAD tool.
- CAD tools may include SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion, Onshape, or Solid Edge.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of design intent, assembly reasoning, mechanisms, kinematics, GD&T, and tolerance judgment.
- Communication: Strong written English communication skills.
- Relevant professional experience may include industrial machinery, robotics, automotive, aerospace, medical devices, consumer products, or tooling and fixture design.
- Teaching, mentoring, leading design reviews, or coaching engineering teams is valuable.
- Open to candidates in the United Arab Emirates, Argentina, Austria, Bangladesh, Belgium, Bahrain, Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, Chile, Colombia, Germany, Denmark, Algeria, Egypt, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, Ghana, Greece, Indonesia, India, Italy, Jordan, Japan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Kuwait, and Kazakhstan.
