The Work
You will create realistic mechanical engineering problems and scenarios, then assess AI-generated technical content. Your reviews will focus on whether the work is accurate, practical, manufacturable, clear, and consistent with engineering standards.
- Write expert-level problems based on manufactured, tested, or approved parts, assemblies, and analyses.
- Review AI responses for technical accuracy, manufacturability, practical feasibility, and alignment with engineering practice.
- Check models, drawings, tolerances, calculations, and finite element analysis results for correctness and defensibility.
- Decide whether technical work is clear and robust enough for another reviewer to dimension against.
- Provide structured written feedback that identifies errors and explains how the work could improve.
What It Pays and Takes
This is flexible, part-time contract work that can fit alongside employment or studies. You must be based in the United States and able to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting.
- Pay: Up to $100 per hour.
- Time: 20+ hours per week.
- Location: Open to candidates based in the United States.
- Education: BS, MS, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Experience: Hands-on mechanical engineering experience, or engineering studies that produced work which was manufactured, tested, or approved.
- Technical depth in parametric solid modeling built to tolerance, GD&T drawing interpretation, standards-based calculations, or FEA validated against hand calculations.
- Strong written communication, careful attention to detail, and the ability to explain complex mechanical engineering concepts clearly.
Helpful Background
Experience with SolidWorks, Creo, NX, CATIA, Inventor, Fusion 360, ANSYS, Abaqus, Nastran, MATLAB, or comparable tools can support this work. Experience creating manufacturing-ready drawings or models for machining, sheet metal, casting, injection molding, or additive manufacturing is also useful.
A background with a manufacturer, product design firm, aerospace or defense contractor, automotive supplier, or advanced mechanical engineering studies may also be relevant.
