Opportunity Overview
Handshake is looking for social media video creators and editors to support AI research through flexible, part-time contract work. This is not a traditional job. You’ll draw on your experience creating and editing short-form vertical video, including cuts, on-screen text, pacing, and talking to camera, to contribute original footage that helps AI better understand how real creators film and edit content for platforms. The Handshake AI program runs year-round, with project opportunities opening periodically across different areas of expertise.
This is an ongoing, project-based opportunity you can take on alongside your current content creation and other work.
What You’ll Do
- Contribute raw video clips from your own original content for use in AI training
- Share how you edit your content, including cuts, on-screen text, and pacing, when asked
- Follow project guidelines on the types of content and clips needed
- Work remotely and complete tasks at your own pace, with no set schedule or minimum hour requirement
Qualifications
- Posting frequency: Posts original vertical video at least 3 times a week (not reposts, compilations, or trending-sound clips)
- Editing skills: Edits your own content, with visible cuts, on-screen text, and deliberate pacing in your Reels
- Footage quality: Well-lit, steady footage with clear audio, and comfortable talking to camera
- Data sharing: Willing to share raw clips for AI training, and everyone who appears on camera must be an adult who has agreed to appear
Additional qualifications (not required, but strengthen your application)
- A following of roughly 10,000 to 100,000, with engagement of about 2 to 3% or higher
- Content in niches that suit editing, such as cooking, DIY and how-to, product demos, pets, fitness, daily routines, or hobbies
This may not be a fit if
- Your account features children, such as family channels
- Your content is mostly reposted, clipped, or copyrighted material, such as TV, music, or celebrity clips
- Your account is faceless, a slideshow, or AI-generated
- Your content is gameplay or screen recordings only
Required for all applicants
- Participants must be 18+ years old
- Must have US work authorization
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written project guidelines
- Rights to the footage you share, with consent from every person who appears on camera
- Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous environment
How Handshake AI pays and hires
Weekly through Stripe. The pay week runs Monday to Sunday (Pacific), Handshake sends payouts by Wednesday afternoon, and funds usually become withdrawable about two days later. Onboarding is paid only when a project's terms say so.
Apply and verify your identity on the Handshake AI site. You're matched to projects by background, invited by email when one fits, and some projects require an assessment first.
