The work

As an Anthropology Quality Assurance Lead, you will review AI-generated anthropology explanations, ethnographic summaries, cultural comparisons, archaeology discussions, and human evolution content. You will assess accuracy, sensitivity, theory use, research methods, ethics, terminology, clarity, formatting, and whether instructions were followed.

You will also review trainer and QA submissions, give precise written feedback, communicate guideline updates, and help keep standards consistent across remote expert teams.

  • Review anthropology content and trainer or QA work against detailed project rubrics.
  • Find stereotyping, ethnocentrism, outdated terms, missing context, and ethically problematic framing.
  • Provide structured feedback and help resolve repeated quality issues.
  • Maintain style guides, FAQs, trackers, onboarding materials, calibration tasks, and examples.
  • Support activation and follow-up for contributors who are inactive or inconsistent.

What it pays and takes

This is an intermediate-level, part-time contractor role for someone with strong anthropology expertise and experience evaluating work carefully against detailed standards.

  • Pay: $65 USD per hour.
  • Time: 20 or more hours per week.
  • Location: United States.
  • Language: Clear written English is required.
  • Work type: Part-time contract.
  • Required background: Anthropology, archaeology, cultural anthropology, or a closely related field.
  • Relevant experience: Research, teaching, ethnography, fieldwork, museum or heritage work, or related academic workflows.
  • You must be able to apply cultural sensitivity and methodological rigor when reviewing content.
  • Helpful experience includes AI training, data annotation, large language model evaluation, or social science quality assurance.
  • Helpful knowledge includes cultural relativism, ethnographic methods, kinship, ritual, representation, and human evolution.
  • Experience supporting remote researchers, reviewers, annotators, or QA teams is useful.
  • You should be comfortable with Discord, Google Sheets, Google Docs, trackers, dashboards, and project management systems.

About AI training work

AI training uses human-reviewed examples to improve how artificial intelligence understands and produces information. Anthropology experts are paid for this work because accurate cultural context, ethical judgment, and strong research standards are difficult for automated systems to assess on their own.
