The work
You will solve advanced physics problems and prepare rigorous derivations and analyses that help AI systems reason through scientific questions. Your work must be technically accurate, clearly documented, and reproducible.
- Create step-by-step derivations using clear mathematical explanations and LaTeX notation.
- State assumptions, approximations, intermediate reasoning, final results, special cases, and boundary conditions.
- Use SymPy, Python, and Jupyter for symbolic or numerical checks when relevant.
- Check dimensional consistency and identify ambiguities in problem statements.
- Suggest well-reasoned interpretations or clarifications when a problem is unclear.
- Incorporate reviewer feedback while preserving technical accuracy and reproducibility.
What it pays and takes
This is a remote contractor role with flexible scheduling and consistent availability needed during an 8 to 10 week project period.
- Pay: $100 to $200 per hour.
- Hours: Less than 20 hours per week.
- Location: remote, open to applicants in the United States.
- Language: Professional fluency in English.
- Preferred background: A PhD in physics, advanced-stage PhD candidacy, or postdoctoral physics research experience.
- Relevant expertise may include high energy physics, mathematical physics, biophysics, statistical physics, condensed matter, AMO or quantum optics, gravitation, cosmology, astrophysics, quantum information, or optical properties of materials.
- Strong analytical ability and clear technical writing.
- Working knowledge of LaTeX, SymPy, Python, and Jupyter.
- Two to five recent representative publications with accessible arXiv or DOI records.
How it works
You apply here in about two minutes and finish on the hiring platform. The next step is a short AI interview (technical roles include a coding challenge). Passing it is how you qualify for paid tasks, so take it soon after you are invited.
About AI training work
AI training is the human work behind systems that learn from examples, including carefully written solutions and expert reviews. Experienced contributors are needed when the work requires deep subject knowledge, precise reasoning, and careful judgment.
